My other home on the webs, M.I.S.S. has featured her numerous times as a Woman Making History, and I even wrote about her new website. The girl is dope. Beyond her style, I love her ability just because it's so personally connected to my vision for myself. Talented, smart, the perfect ratio of bummy to beautiful that only so few art school graduates get right these days.

Try a Little Tenderness: RIP John Hughes

Director and writer John Hughes, who basically defined the way anyone under 30 thinks about the teenage experience in America, died today at the age of 59.

I wrote one of my favorite thesis papers from my college years on the director and his unique portrayal of adolescent women in film. His strength at creating characters that became the prototype for modern teen life will not be forgotten, and I salute him with one of my favorite scenes from Pretty in Pink.
