Pregnant for the second time, she is invited to enroll in an alternative school and finally meets a teacher who inspires her to transcend the negativity around her and make the best of her life. With amazing performances from an all-star cast, including Monique, Paula Patton, Mariah Carey, and newcomer Gabourey Sidibe . The director, Lee Daniels , ensured that a sense of gritty realisim was reflected in the film's cinematography, and his direction is both tender and enganging.
