They Go Hard

Since winter is pretty much just starting... (snowstorm, wut wut!) it might be safe to buy these beautiful Crooks & Castles winter wear items. I am a sucker for either comfy or streetwear items with panache, and these fit the bill thanks to innovative detailing and cuts-- that cropped poncho reminds me of a sweatshirt you'd make it home when you were feeling crafty with your old Champion $20 from Modells. Cept it's so much super nicer. Yeah.

Loan me money, por favor? Kthanx.

You can purchase all of these pieces at Karmaloop.

Some Stuff I Am Pretty Much Loving

It's been a really long time since I typed anything of real relevance on this blog. I've had the ideas stored up but literally zero+ time to get them out. And it's a shame. Because it's not like I'm tootin' my own horn or whatever, but some of those ideas are really quite rad.

So, to recap: I have a surplus of awesome ideas brewing, right? And now, it's Thursday at 12:32 AM and I actually have some time to get the ideas out! But in comes the other problem... I'm really just too damn tired! So let's make a compromise. I'm just going to do a brief list of things that have been rattling around in my brain lately. Some things I like (Law & Order: SVU). Some things I love (Brunch at Clinton St. Baking Co). And, a lot of things that are over 140 characters and can't fit on Twitter.

Thing #1!
Toro Y Moi is a 23 year old guy from Columbia, South Carolina who is actually named Chaz Bundick. He makes a lot of cool lo-fi music with a slight soul-ish/traditional pop underlying feeling. Listening to Toro Y Moi doesn't make me feel like a jerk on Bedford at all, not even in the slightest.

Thing #2!
Cropped Tops. Even though I haven't done a sit-up in about 3 months (shhh! don't tell!), I really like these whimsical little numbers. They make me feel all Clarissa Explains It All on one hand, and on the other hand, the new set of high-fashion crop tops make me feel like somewhat of an adult. Plus, you can wear them everywhere, even work if you play your high-waisted jeans and under-garments right!

Thing #3
Denise Huxtible. Real talk, when am I NOT obsessed with Denise? She's basically everything I'm hoping I'll just magically wake up as one morning.

Thing #4
The Catcher in the Rye. Holden Caulfield 4eva, and no Phonies allowed while yer at it!

Thing #5
Sarah Morrison's TrendMill. She owns a Rugrats Sweatshirt, a Vintage Betsey Johnson Dress, and Prada heels. I can haz hero?

Pinky Swear

Nasty Gal is trying to make me put a ring on it... I'm currently lusting (and about to pull my debit card out for) over these costume rings. Truly one of my favorite retailers, online or land-line.

The Time Has Come

Thank the lordy they're accepting all major credit cards! Couldn't care less if it bumps my monthly minimum up a couple of bucks, you know I'm going to be coppin left and right!

Got the World In My Palm

High end jeweler Philippe Tournaire has created a signature line of incredibly detailed rings inspired by global architecture, featuring gilded versions of buildings in France, Japan, and what looks to be ancient Arabia.

Shoutout to my non-existent boyfriend, hook it up dude! Who gives a shit about diamonds?Clearly architecturally influenced knuckle-dusters complete with Arch de Triumphs are a girl's best friend!

Hellz Bellz Fall 09: Style Warriors

My fashion boo Hellz Bellz always makes me smile, and I sure am grinning with the release of their new Fall 09 lookbook.

Cleverly called Style Warriors, the Fall 2009 Delivery 1 collection is a sophisticated presentation of Amazonian inflected pieces. This season's color palate includes darker tones such as a rich elephant grey, navy and red, as well as neon yellow and fuchsia. Featuring traditional pieces in trendy cuts, such as the cropped sweatshirt, and inspirational new designs such as the button up shirt-dress with a whimsical tribal print, the collection stakes new ground without abandoning the practicality and comfort you've come to expect from Hellz.

Every piece is as funky as it is wearable. A zip-up sweatshirt becomes durable high-fashion when given the Hellz treatment-- a graphically interesting layout and a stunning color palate. From the Ts to the polka-dotted tribal leggings, each garment is something that I can see myself working into my day-to-day wardrobe. Paired with more extravagant items for a night out on the town, or toned down with a simple top for the workweek, Hellz Bellz continues to impress me with their dedication to spicing up a woman's style foundations.

Shot by the talented Brooke Nipar and styled by Radio Rose, the collection is available now on their website and will hit stockists within the coming weeks so be on the alert! Head over to the Hellz blog to check out the rest of the lookbook.

I Just Keep It On the Down-Low

Ughhhhh.

A Wang! Why must you tease me so with your perfectly smart creepers! A pointed toe, tassled detailing and the sexiest buckled cross-strap. Oh, and don't think your subtle quilting at the tippy-top went unnoticed!

Major shoe crush. Swoon.
Buy the creepers here and die happy.

Yummy

This will probably make me seem very corny... but since when do I care?!

I enjoyed this SO MUCH! Like, so much that it became ridiculous how much I was enjoying myself.

I am a cheeseball. But not as big of a cheeseball as Cat Deely! Those are the thoughts that console me at night...

You're Turning Me On...

I almost always only have one thing on my brain. Usually, that thing is food. But today my mind has been wandering and keeps coming back time and again to these amazing Nike Blazers. I previously blogged oodles of love for them, but when I was out and about today and saw a random chick stomping about in them, my feelings towards these lavender SBs intensified from slight sneaker crush to full blown unrequited love. Lush light purple suede, snake-skin swoosh... my heart palpitates uncontrollably each time I visualize these babies! I can't help but fantasize about sliding them over my sock-covered toes. Pulling the padded tongue over the edge of my skinny jeans. Lacing up the black strings. Wiggling my toe around under the suede-capped toe. Lusting over the reptilian swoosh in the mirror.

Let me stop before it gets too hot in here...

Mental Hopscotch

Browsing through Blogue, a Fashion Flashback post on 80's band Missing Persons' lead sing Dale Bozzio caught my eye. I was put on to Missing Persons not too long ago by a special someone, and I have to say they really are an awesomely rad band. Dale Bozzio was the equivalent of the modern-day Karen O, a fashion risktaker and musical daredevil. With ensembles consisting of bowl bras, foil and plastic vests, and glitter and fishnets leggings, she personified the space-futurista-glam-goddess look. Her hair was wild, colored, and crazy, and her makeup was fierce. Long before Madonna was the innovator on the music scene, Dale Bozzio brought a sick sense of innovation to the fashion landscape of New Wave. You go girl!

Check out some more of her awesome ensembles below and one of the band's videos as well!

Babushka

Holy Shinkies!! How hot is this Russian Doll Clutch that Lilly Allen was spotted with? Part of Chanel's Pre-Fall 09 Collection, the starlet was toting the clutch around town late last week, paired with a simple black-and-white ensemble.

This shit is so dope! I am speechless except for... Gimme one! Another sucess from Karl. However, a success I can't afford, as the tote is priced at over $3700.

Muslims no more...

As reported by BrooklynVegan, the San Diego post-punk group formerly known as "The Muslims" has now changed their name to "Soft Pack". I have to wonder, in this Obama age of progress, did liberal PC pressure get to them?

No matter, they still rock and are working on new material.

I had the chance to see them live this past summer, a great night which involved plenty of dancing, free Colt 45s, and secret flasks. Although they looked like a bunch of frat boys on stage, I really enjoyed their seamless blend of dreamy punk riffs with modern garage band-esque irony (if The Strokes and The Velvet Underground had an inbred bastard child, it might one day pick up a guitar and try to sound like The Muslims/Soft Pack). They had a lot of energy on stage and that natural charisma you can't deny. What I most love about them is that while a lot of indie groups are going in a more experimental or folksy direction these days, The Muslims/Soft Pack remind you that old-time-rock-and-roll is still relevant and, most of all, fun. While they still have some stuff to work out--name change included-- I'm excited to see what they'll come out with and am commanding you all to keep them on your radars!

Check out their new Soft Pack material here and listen to their jamming as The Muslims here.
