How do you say hero in every language possible?
My other home on the webs, M.I.S.S. has featured her numerous times as a Woman Making History, and I even wrote about her new website. The girl is dope. Beyond her style, I love her ability just because it's so personally connected to my vision for myself. Talented, smart, the perfect ratio of bummy to beautiful that only so few art school graduates get right these days.

Violette: "Fangs of New York" Video Lookbook
A couple of weeks ago on my other home on the interwebs, M.I.S.S, I penned a gushing little ditty about director and designer Vashtie Kola, touching briefly on her uber successful fashion line, Violette. Cut to early August and Va$htie is back at it, dropping the video lookbook for the line's Summer 09 collection (I guess better late than never right?). Cunningly dubbed Fangs of New York, the collection of T's and tanks is chock full of simple designs emblazoned with the brand's signature "V"'s. Horizontally, vertically and chopped and screwed, Violette's revolutionized the logo T, taking it from bland to bold. Party Party!
If you're in the NYC area tonight-- get your butt over to Santos and dance the night away in celebration of director, artist, designer, and blogger extraordinare Vashtie's birthday! The likes of Q Tip and Cipha Sounds will be spinnin' the best of 80s and 90s hip hop and R&B (only the exclusives, people!), and expect the stars that turn up at her weekly Get Open parties to be in full effect tonight!
